I think Harding referred to a "Return to Normalcy."

Then he fixed the economy that was in free fall in 1920

Got the parts, use the bathroom. What's the issue?

Next will be new RFRA EO that takes away equal rights from LGBT people. Trump needs a boost and he'll get one from the right if he targets the rights of gay people cloaked in religious freedom.

The women's restroom is generally cleaner than the men's restroom. I am sure they won't mind.

No, they take on the most asinine issues first. There is no reason on God's green earth why a schoolkid should be 'transgender'.

How strong are they? Strong enough for a man but made for a woman?

The transgender bathroom people made one fatal error: They made it all out to be about gender-confused kids. They never gave an answer to the problem of predatory men abusing the new law. They pretended it wasn't a problem and never will be. Sad.

Oh, they'll wake up eventually. Long about the time some dude walks in on someone's daughter and the father takes matters into his own hands.

The first time a woman shoots a man with a penis in a dress dead inside her restroom for allegedly being a threat to her or her children the issue will be redefined permanently.

Already happened to my daughter in college.

Don't you get tired of making ridiculous arguments?

The perfect storm would be a dude walking in on a Muslim girl and her father taking matters into his own hands. Muslims might be allied with the left now for tactical reasons, but that doesn't mean Mohammed will sit still when a man in a dress follows his daughter into the ladies room.

"defying the Obama administration"

I got a kick out of that: As if there is an Obama administration which is competing with the Trump administration.

The Obama administration is pining for the fjords and the Trump administration has other priorities than being the nation's bathroom monitor.

Self awareness is so rare it should be a superpower.

They also seem not to understand that gays don't like trannies.

Also, women's sports are about to collapse.

There's considerable daylight between what the Trump admin has actually done, and what his opponents are afraid he actually will do.

Trumpy hasn't even been president thirty days and already he has the Left frothing at the mouth. I have no idea how this all will eventually turn out but in the forty years I have been voting I have never seen the Left so challenged and defensive.

The Trump Administration is a mess

It seems to be, but I'm not sure it really is. I'm reading the book Antifragile (available from the Althouse Amazon Porta!) One of the premises of the book is that successful people in the real world - he calls them "practitioners"- thrive and prosper on chaos and mistakes. They adapt and learn quickly from unpredictable events. In contrast, bureaucrats and academics take things slowly and cautiously in fragile systems of their own design. I am beginning to think Trump is antifragile.

It won't even go that far once the Pussy Hat wearers figure out that there are men in this world who have fetishes based on women's bodily functions. Once they realize that they may never be able to pee again without some pervert sitting two stall down getting his jollies they'll drop this like a hot potato.

Some here don;t like the expression "OODA Loop" but that's what it is.

Subject was introduced by John Boyd, who famously said he could shoot down any other pilot in 40 seconds.

Boyd's key concept was that of the decision cycle or OODA loop, the process by which an entity (either an individual or an organization) reacts to an event. According to this idea, the key to victory is to be able to create situations wherein one can make appropriate decisions more quickly than one's opponent. The construct was originally a theory of achieving success in air-to-air combat, developed out of Boyd's Energy-Maneuverability theory and his observations on air combat between MiG-15s and North American F-86 Sabres in Korea. Harry Hillaker (chief designer of the F-16) said of the OODA theory, "Time is the dominant parameter. The pilot who goes through the OODA cycle in the shortest time prevails because his opponent is caught responding to situations that have already changed."

We are watching it in action.

Why is this an "LGBT" issue? What has it got to do with L's, G's or B's? And as regards T's, what school child is competent to decide his/her gear was erroneously issued? The absurdity of expending this much energy on something so trivial, just in the potential number of children affected one way or another, is an indication of an unserious society.

The transgender bathroom farce kept enough Blacks home to cost Hillary the election. I'm guessing that White Liberals and Blacks have markedly different ideas as to what constitutes Civil Rights. I'm also guessing that many, if not most, of the Golden Shower Left don't understand this.

Ain't it great? I support President Trump for a lot of reasons. I would support him for this even if he did/does nothing else I like.

Yes and the left went nuts about Prop 8 in California but neglected to notice it was heavily supported by black churches.

I foresee many, many lawsuits down the line, when those confused children grow up, find they're still miserable no matter what sex they claim to be and realize that their parents and teachers aided and abetted their confusion instead of offering real help.

In 50 years, if we are lucky, people will look back on sex reassignment surgery done on minors the same way we look back on lobotomies used to "cure" psychological disorders. Like the lobotomy done on Rosemary Kennedy because her shitbag of a father was afraid she'd get pregnant.

Yes. And especially now that organized medicine is touting the idea that is OK to arrest puberty with hormones then give a child a different set of hormones than their body meant them to have to change their outer sex characteristics. This is dangerous, especially in women. Testosterone in a body that is meant to produce estrogen results in higher levels of circulating estrogen which in turn results in higher incidences of hormone sensitive breast cancers. I predict in 10-20 years we will see a spike in breast cancers in young women who have decided they want to be men. And they'll ask why the medical profession allowed this to happen. Kind of like how society is asking us now why we facilitated the opioid epidemic.

The irony here is that a stay was issued on the bathroom order by a federal court, just as it was on the EO. The Left would have the president cooperate fully with the court that issued the stay on the EO, but defy the court that issued a stay on the bathroom directive?

I don't know sometimes. I really don't.

I am not really sure the federal government has any business telling school districts precisely how to deal with these issues. It might be better handled at the district level.

The government is forced to deal with the immigration problem. That's one difference.

I recently saw a very funny cartoon. 4 panels long. They show a man dressed as a woman going into a womens bathroom, a pause, then a very big woman throwing the man out saying no way he would get into the bathroom, the kicker being the final panel say "not if they were wearing a Ivanka dress."

Here is another instance of things that "got Trump". While the country wasn't ready to embrace gay marriage, it was something it could accept. (The "got Trump" issue with gay marriage was the assault to make people like it.) This was a bridge too far.

GRW3:

Interesting. I wonder if this is part of why why Trump is so widely perceived on the left as anti-gay (other than that they need him to be), when in fact he was pro-gay-rights before it was cool.

(Also because he chose Pence, who I don't think hates gays but who certainly hasn't been a political ally to them.)

Probably not. Motivated enough to get hormone therapy is motivated enough for the next step, which is "top surgery" (double mastectomy).

There are quite a few cases, largely covered up by the media and medical journals, of children very unhappy/suicidal, at being raised by gay parents. The trannie wave of unhappiness will also be covered up but it is probably a few years away yet,

Very astute. 'Antifragile' could sum up the Trump presidential campaign, and there is another concept that applies too. TSEliot's quote "Only someone who is willing to go too far will find out how far you can go". DJT is finding out how far he can go right now. His opponents are having kittens while his voters are drawing strength from chaos.

Acceptance of gays is one thing. But acceptance of gender as a social construct is another. It actually undermines feminism and sexual preference.as the terfs are finding out. As any feminist who wants to have the vagina monologues is finding out. Bit are predicated on the idea of sex as a biological reality.
Since when did subjective reality trump actual reality? Where else does what one think of oneself override actual reality? In the order nterest of tolerance a lot of lefties are throwing away adherence to objective reality, and making an argument that it's somehow intolerant to merely sugggest that what goes on in someone's head must be real and Take precendedce over actual laws which already were set up to not discriminate on the basis of SEX.

I remember when 'tranny' was slang for transmission, of the automotive sort.

The clearest example of the cruel folly of encouraging and abetting transgender identity and surgery is that of anorexics. If we are confronted by a 5' 5" woman who weighs 75 pounds and thinks she is fat we move heaven and earth to try to get her past this obviously false self image, but we are prepared and some are eager to perform surgical removal and construction of genitalia based on the person's "self-image." It is long past time to call a spade a spade and declare that both of these conditions are delusions that require psychological treatment and counseling, not surgery.

I remain convinced that certain elements are in search of the single most dysfunctional human being in the country and then establishing that person as the sole arbiter of all social standards and mores.
